Dr Darryl Bates BVSc
After a few years away from Boondall, Darryl Bates has returned to consulting and a more active role in the practice. “I have spent the last few years as the hospital manager of one the specialist centres in Brisbane but have returned to Boondall to where I started my career as a vet” Darryl said.
Darryl has been a vet in Boondall for 20 years now, 19 years as an owner. Even though I might not have been consulting here, I still have had a vested interest in the practice and have worked behind the scenes. With the growth of the practice, a second veterinarian was required and Dr Sayaka Takeuchi has joined us. We will both share the consulting and surgery. However, you can always request to see a specific vet and if they are available, they will be happy to see you.

Dr Sayaka Takeuchi (Saya)
I am a new graduate from the University of Queensland Veterinary School. I have started working at Boondall since April 2008. I love cats and would like to one day specialize in Feline Medicine. I was born and raised in Japan until I was ten then my family moved to Singapore where I stayed for 7 years before coming to Queensland to study veterinary science to become a vet. I rent at the moment so I don’t have a pet but would like to get a black cat one day. Since starting at Boondall some of our patients have started to learn Japanese as I have a tendency to speak to them in Japanese. I look forward to meeting you at the practice with your pet soon.

Our Nurses
Alinya Cross - My name is Alinya Cross and I joined the Boondall Veterinary Team in October 2004. I am currently studying Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, to becoming a fully qualified Veterinary Nurse. I was born and raised on a farm in Burpengary, and have always had a love for animals (horses and dogs in particular). After graduating from high school in 1992, I spent the following year working around England and then returned to Australia to attend University. I graduated from Griffith University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science (AES), and have spent the past years mainly in retail management. I decided to pursue my dream of working with animals and have not looked back since. I have two Staffys Brutus and Kyra, and a horse named Star Girl (I didn’t name her!). I enjoy horse riding and painting and drawing when I am not at work or studying.

Anna Fell - My name is Anna and I joined the Boondall Veterinary Team in August 2006. I had been studying Certificate I while working full time as a Client Service Officer at QUT before the opportunity to join Boondall Vet came up. I have nearly completed studying Certificate II in Animal Studies and intend to commence Certificate IV next year. I have also completed a Bachelor of Business.
While growing up I spent many of my holidays on farms, as half my family are farmers, and I learnt early on that I have a strong interest in the welfare and wellbeing of animals.
I currently share my house with Jack the Kelpie x, Chilli the Red Cattle x, and Dominique and Billy William - two black cats both acquired through the surgery.
My main outside work interests include playing touch footy and netball; helping out at my family’s AFL club; and monthly Ladies Dinner Club

About the Clinic
The clinic is fully air conditioned for the comfort of all. We have a large waiting room that has a selection of premium pet foods, a range of leads and collars that offer a lifetime guarantee, a large range of flea control products that work and plenty of space to keep your pets separated.
We see patients by appointments, except for emergencies, but please call prior to coming in if at all possible.
We have in house laboratory for pre anaesthetic checks and to assist in diagnosing medical problems. We also have 2 fluid pumps for giving intravenous fluids during surgery and medical conditions requiring fluid therapy.
The practice is fully computerized so we can easily help you keep up to date with vaccinations and other medication through the reminder systems
